Water Grave – Coming Soon

A guest post by Mitchell S Karnes

We’re one week into July at the time of this newsletter post, and Water Grave the streaming series is in high gear. The Kickstarter campaign goal was set at $15,000, 5% of the minimal budget amount. We surpassed the goal in ten days, just one-third of the month-long Kickstarter deadline. This coming Friday, we meet with a group of potential investors to secure the rest of the money needed. With the finances secured, the project will launch into full speed.

Friday, July 10, is not just a time for investors to meet me, the book author, but they will also meet the producers, the screenplay writer/director, the main cast, and the production team. They will also listen as many Nashville artists lay tracks of the first three-four songs of the series soundtrack. I’m giddy with excitement.

As a child, I dreamed of writing something worthy of publication. My dream expanded to creating characters I would use in an ongoing series. Seeing those books converted to the medium of film is every author’s dream. I’m just a few steps away from that hope and goal coming to fruition.

I must admit, it’s strange seeing the characters cast with actors who will bring them to life. While many are not who I imagined would play the characters, I have faith that God is drawing the right people together for this. Why, you might ask. Because, as I have said before, the Abbey Rhodes Mystery series is more than just entertainment. It is a mission.

The ministry of this series reaches out to those who, like Abbey Rhodes, have been hurt by someone acting on behalf of the church. They have walked away, disgruntled and damaged. I want those people to know God loves them. I also want them to know there are so many authentic Christians who do their very best to love God and love others. I long to tell them they
are not forgotten, and if they would come home, God is waiting with open arms like the father of the prodigal son.

This last week, I chatted with one of the artists who will sing a song featured in the series. Her story is much like Abbey’s. God is blessing us with the right people, people who not only believe in the book Water Grave or the screenplay by the same name, but they believe in the mission of reconciliation and want to see this project through to the end.

I ask that you get a copy of Water Grave and read it for yourself. Then, look for the streaming series (on a platform to be revealed later) and watch with not only your eyes, but with your heart. Pray for us. Pray that the people who need this message will connect with it. I’ll keep you up to date with the way God continues to answer those prayers. In the meantime, join the cause and support the project any way you can.
